Health has many many facets and the Tasmanian Health and Fitness Expo is looking to showcase as many as possible.
If you are someone who has a very strict sense of what you believe is the only way to exercise, the only way to eat and so on, you will likely find the expo confrontational.
There will be athletes involved in CrossFit, strongman and bodybuilding, some of which may train, diet and have an ideal of health that may not fit your view. There will be people promoting frutarian diets (which are 90% carbohydrates), paleo, flexible dieting (eat whatever you like as long as it fits your macros), vegetarian, vegan and so on, many of which will directly contradict another. There will be scantily clad men and women competing on stage who many may find superficial and promoting negative body images, and there will even be those who would classify as obese competing in strongman. Combat participants will be trying to hurt each other (until the final bell goes) and its likely blood will be spilt!
The reality is that the health and fitness community is now a wide and varied space. Interpretations of what is healthy varies massively, but the expo gives exhibitors and spectators an ability to find a large variety of values in the one space at the one time.
We welcome anyone who has certain philosophies to use this experience to promote their values, likewise we would encourage anyone wanting to attend as a patron to seek out as many different businesses as possible there, asking the how, what, why and who – so you can leave more educated than you were when you walked in.
We hope that the Tasmanian community welcomes this event and gets involved, based on the variety of sports, exhibitors, activities and speakers we have, it should be a great event.
